In a CIAT CPD event organized by ADP's Eddie Weir, Northern Ireland members of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) were given the opportunity to inspect the new Obel Tower in Belfast.
The CPD was highly oversubscribed and places filled up almost immediately.
The event was attended by members the CIAT along with members of ADP including; Eddie Weir, Matthew Weir, Barry Mullen and Colin Duffy.
Set to dominate the Belfast skyline, the Obel Tower stands 265ft tall (81 metres) and should beat the current record holder Belfast's Windsor House by around a metre!
On 17th June 2008 O’Hare & McGovern Ltd., Building Contractor laid the first foundation stone which marked the beginning of the superstructure building works.
Upon its completion Belfast’s Obel Tower will rise majestically above the Belfast skyline, symbolising
a new phase in Northern Ireland’s development.
The £75 million Obel development is a mixed use development at Belfast’s Donegall Quay that includes the tower superstructure (88.31m high) that will house 282 apartments, an eight storey hotel building and 41,000sq.ft office space with eateries and retail units on the ground floor.
The superstructure of the development is due to be completed in phases from July 2009
through to 2010.
